How it All Started
Qwello’s journey began in 2017 with a simple but powerful idea: “You can do better than that!” Driven by this thought, Dr. Henrik Thiele founded the company with the clear goal of eliminating the bottleneck caused by the lack of public charging infrastructure. Backed by a team of experienced experts from various fields—business, energy, finance, and user experience—Qwello has been built on a foundation of solid financing and extensive know-how, positioning the company for long-term success.
From Pilot Projects to Pan-European Expansion
Since 2021, Qwello has been turning theory into practice. Our pilot projects in Munich, Hamburg, and Berlin were launched to test our hardware and user experience under real-world conditions, with the aim of creating easy-to-access, user-friendly charging stations in urban locations. The success of these initial projects laid the groundwork for rapid expansion across Europe.
A major milestone in Qwello’s growth came in May 2024 with the acquisition of Park & Charge, a leading Dutch charge point operator. This acquisition significantly strengthened our position in the European market, creating a pan-European charging platform. The combined entity now operates over 12,500 charging points across nearly 300 municipalities in eight countries: Germany, Sweden, Austria, France, Spain, Poland, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom.

They feature contactless payment terminals for seamless transactions, intuitive displays for straightforward operation, and parking sensors to optimize space usage.
