Qwello France Succeeds in Innovative Public Tender as Charge Point Operator in the French Region of Rennes

Qwello France Tender Rennes

Paris, France

March 3, 2025

Shortly after announcing to already exceed 100 Charge Points in France, Qwello France has also won a public Tender as AC Provider for Public Charging Infrastructure of 150 Charge Points for the département of Ille-et-Vilaine.

Only recently after Qwello France has announced to have grown its electric vehicle (EV) charging network by launching new stations in Sèvremont, Bayonne, Clermont-Ferrand (Vulcania), Le Creusot, Caissargues, Livry-Louvercy and Noirmoutier, reaching a milestone of 100 charging points in France, Qwello France has won a Tender for additional 150 charging points in Ille-et-Vilaine with its capital, the City of Rennes.

Participating in a groundbreaking and innovative approach by SDE 35 – to agglomerate public available areas, founding an interest group for public available property owners and issuing an AMI (appel à manifestation d’intérêt, Expression of Interest) – Qwello France together with its partner DRIVECO, was selected as Provider for the public charging infrastructure within 36 municipalities of Ille-et-Vilaine, including the capital of Bretagne, the City of Rennes.

This approach is a premiere within France and after this successful AMI, resulting from an increased demand by more and more registered BEVs within the region, already more than 100 additional locations have been suggested by the involved municipalities. An additional AMI is  planned already in 2025 by SDE 35 for this reason, resulting from the positive impact of this innovative approach.

Qwello France is extremely proud to announce its success in this call for expressions of interest (AMI) issued by SDE 35, the energy syndicate of Ille-et-Vilaine, in collaboration with our partner Driveco. This significant project involves the deployment of 184 charging points across the region, with 80% consisting of AC charge points, underscoring our commitment to enhancing the local EV infrastructure.

Vincent Briola, General Manager of Qwello France:

“SDE 35 plays a pivotal role in supporting the energy transition for the cities of Ille-et-Vilaine. Our proposal combines Driveco’s expertise in fast charging solutions with Qwello’s advanced technology for standard charging stations, offering a fully financed and user-friendly solution. This partnership aims to promote sustainable mobility and support the regional drive towards a greener future.”

Qwello’s charging stations come equipped with real-time availability updates and an intuitive app for seamless payments, ensuring a hassle-free experience for electric vehicle drivers.

The growth of Qwello’s charging network is a crucial component of France’s strategy to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. By improving access to EV charging, Qwello strengthens the country’s electric mobility infrastructure and actively supports its transition to greener transportation solutions.
