We’re proud to announce a major milestone for Qwello: the commissioning of our largest installation featuring the new Qwello CP22 charger—so far. With 15 CP22 double chargers, delivering 30 charge points in total, the site is now fully operational in Bayonne, in the southwest of France.
Located at the Ametzondo Shopping Mall, a major retail and lifestyle destination in the region, the station provides convenient access to charging while users go about their daily routines—turning dwell time into charge time.
This project represents the culmination of over a year of dedicated collaboration, careful planning, and innovative implementation. From custom pole placements to accommodate the unique layout of the parking facility, to the rollout of our new Qwello branding, every detail was fine-tuned to meet both user needs and long-term infrastructure goals.
Built on Demand, Backed by Expertise
The project began with just three charging points as a pilot phase. Thanks to the high usage rates and local demand, we made the decision to expand the station significantly—demonstrating Qwello’s agility in responding to real-world needs.
This success was made possible by our ongoing partnership with Charge Expert, a seasoned specialist in EV charger installation and maintenance, who has supported us in delivering high-quality solutions across France. Their local expertise was key in executing a seamless installation adapted to the site’s technical constraints.
Supporting Regional Mobility Goals
Bayonne’s new charging station is more than just a technical achievement—it’s a strategic addition to the region’s mobility infrastructure. In alignment with France’s LOM (Loi d’Orientation des Mobilités) law, the station enhances the sustainability of local transport by reinforcing the availability of slow charging infrastructure. It also serves as a complementary alternative to the existing fast-charging facilities at the site, offering greater flexibility and choice for EV drivers.
The Bayonne station became fully operational at the end of May 2025 and is built to serve the community for the next 20 years or more. This long-term presence underlines Qwello’s commitment to building smart, sustainable infrastructure that stands the test of time.
With this milestone, Qwello takes another step forward in its mission to make urban EV charging effortless, accessible, and future-ready.
