Qwello Enters the Danish Market After Winning a Contested Tender in Copenhagen

New Horizons

Qwello, a leading European provider of public electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, announces its entry into Denmark following the award of two contracts under a public tender issued by the City of Copenhagen in 2025. The contracts mark a key milestone in Qwello’s Northern European expansion and reinforce its role as a trusted partner for cities advancing sustainable mobility.

Munich/Copenhagen, January 2026

Following its continued growth across Europe, Qwello has been selected as Charge Point Operator for two contracts awarded under a public tender issued by the City of Copenhagen. The contracts grant Qwello the right to build and operate up to 140 public AC charging points across multiple urban districts of the Danish capital.

Project scope and locations

The tender award covers two contracts spanning several Copenhagen neighborhoods. One contract includes Stefansgade, Nørrebroparken, Lundtoftegade and Vesterbro Vest, while the second covers Bispebjerg, Gl. Sydhavn, Rosenvænget, and Svanemøllen Syd and Øst. Together, the two contracts provide for the deployment of 140 public charging points across the city.

All locations will be equipped with Qwello’s CP22 next generation charging stations. Designed specifically for dense urban environments, the CP22 enables the simultaneous charging of two vehicles while minimizing space requirements and blending seamlessly into public streetscapes.

Supporting Copenhagen’s climate and mobility ambitions

By expanding on-street charging access in residential and mixed-use neighborhoods, the project addresses one of the key barriers to EV adoption: the lack of convenient charging options for drivers without private parking. The deployment will support Copenhagen’s climate objectives, encourage the shift to electric mobility, and contribute to reducing local transport-related emissions.

Qwello’s fully privately financed, city-friendly operating model enables municipalities to scale public charging infrastructure without public investment, while ensuring high standards of reliability, accessibility, and user experience.

Nils Gaedt, Managing Director Qwello Denmark:

“Entering Denmark and being selected by the City of Copenhagen is an important milestone for Qwello. Copenhagen sets some of the highest standards in Europe for sustainable urban mobility, and this project reflects our ability to meet those expectations — from operating on 100% green electricity to using low-emission equipment and service vehicles, and delivering a fast, reliable rollout at street level. We are proud to support the city with charging infrastructure designed for everyday urban use and to strengthen our long-term commitment to the Nordic region.”

With this tender win, Qwello officially starts operations in Denmark and further strengthens its European footprint, following successful deployments in cities such as Frankfurt, Hamburg, Berlin, Stockholm, London, Paris, and Madrid. The Copenhagen project underscores Qwello’s commitment to supporting cities in delivering scalable, sustainable, and citizen-focused charging infrastructure.
