The publicly accessible 22kW charging points aim to achieve maximum penetration among the population.

Acciona Energía and Qwello have unveiled their first urban charging points for electric vehicles in Alcobendas (Madrid).

The presentation event took place at the charging point installed in Plaza del Pueblo and was attended by the Mayor of Alcobendas, Aitor Retolaza Izpizua, the CEO of Acciona Recarga, Fernando Moliner, and the CEO of the joint venture between Acciona Energía and Qwello, Carlos Vázquez.

A total of three publicly accessible 22kW charging points have been installed. Acciona Energía and Qwello oversaw their installation and will also be responsible for their operation, maintenance, and customer service through the joint venture the two companies launched in September 2022.

The charging points are located at strategic spots throughout Alcobendas to ensure maximum accessibility: in front of the Miguel Delibes Cultural Center, near the Heron Diversia Shopping Center, and at Plaza del Pueblo in the town center.

Acciona Energía’s Expansion

“Acciona Energía continues to advance in its commitment to the electric vehicle charging business,” stated Fernando Moliner, CEO of Acciona Recarga. “Thanks to our strategic alliance with Qwello, we achieve greater market penetration, accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles, and contribute to the decarbonization of mobility in Spain.”

Acciona Energía entered the electric vehicle charging market at the end of 2021, focusing on the development, operation, and maintenance of fast and ultra-fast charging points located along major interurban routes through its Acciona Recarga business unit. The company diversified its charging point offering with its partnership with Qwello in September 2022, driving the development of public charging points in urban centers across Spain.
